Jose Mendez’s journey in pest control began in 2001—not with plans to start a company, but with a restaurant owner who needed help solving a problem no one else seemed able to fix.
The restaurant had been battling a recurring cockroach problem despite receiving regular service from another pest control company. Treatments would provide temporary relief, but the pests always returned. The owner was frustrated, concerned about the restaurant’s reputation, and tired of paying for a problem that never truly went away.
Jose took a different approach. Instead of simply treating the areas where pests had been seen, he carefully inspected the kitchen and followed the signs back to their source. Behind the dishwashing area, he discovered hidden moisture and a protected nesting area around the equipment—conditions that allowed the infestation to survive every surface-level treatment.
Once Jose identified the source, he developed a plan to eliminate the infestation, address the conditions supporting it, and help prevent it from returning. The solution worked. For Jose, the experience revealed what effective pest control was really about: looking beyond the obvious, understanding why a problem keeps returning, and refusing to stop until the source has been found.
A Professional Is Born
That early success led Jose to pursue pest control professionally. He spent many years working for a major pest control company, gaining hands-on experience with the challenges faced by restaurants, apartment communities, hotels, industrial facilities, and homeowners throughout South Texas.
The work was not always easy. Jose handled stubborn infestations, inspected difficult-to-reach areas, worked around busy commercial operations, and helped customers who were frustrated by recurring problems. Those experiences taught him that dependable pest control requires more than products and routine treatments—it takes careful inspection, persistence, honest communication, and genuine accountability.
Taking Pest Control Personally
Over time, Jose saw an opportunity to provide the more attentive and personal service he believed customers deserved. It was time to take it to the next level. He founded Vendetta Pest Solutions to build lasting relationships, take ownership of every job, and have the freedom to pursue the source of each problem. Today, he brings that same experience, determination, and problem-solving mindset to every property he serves.
